Drypoint and Chine Collé with Dawn Brooks

Drypoint is an intaglio printmaking technique where a steel needle scratches lines into a metal plate. The lines have a soft, fuzzy quality due to the burr created on either side of the incision.
Chine collé is a method used alongside printmaking to add color and texture. Thin papers—traditionally Japanese—are cut or torn and adhered to the print surface. Ink from the plate prints over these papers, creating unique effects in lines, tones, and textures.

2 Day Collagraph and Carborundum Printing with Dawn Brooks

A collagraph print is created using collage materials and printed in a similar way to an etching plate. Carborundum is a highly versatile medium, suitable for both expressive and more controlled, graphic ways of working. It can be used to create rich tonal areas as well as embossed textures. Over the course of two days, participants will explore a variety of approaches to collagraph and carborundum printing. The workshop will cover materials and plate construction, both basic and advanced inking techniques, the use of stencils, and how to incorporate key principles of relief printing.

2 Day Gathered & Pleated Lampshades with Jaqueline Schultz

The perfect accessory to your home. This extremely popular, versatile technique, once mastered offers an abundance of design options. In this 2-day workshop you will learn how to pinch pleat to the top ring of a lampshade frame and pull gathers into the bottom ring. You will learn how to construct a pinch pleated lining, cut and prep bias, attach drop down trimmings and much, much more.
As well as taking you through the dynamics of this design step-by-step, Jacqueline will show, share and model how this technique can be adapted to oodles of designs. This workshop comes with everything you need to complete your lampshade.
Your kit includes: lampshade frame, a choice of liberty face fabrics and matching/contrasting silk bias trimmings. 100% lawn lining and all specialist sundries.

These gorgeous bears are designed by Jacqueline. Your first time making one of Jacqueline’s bears? You will be making Nico who has been specially created with the beginner bear maker in mind. Nico is 23cm when standing, 17cm when sitting and made using light beige ratinee (multi directional) Schulte Stieff mohair. Nico has movable cotter pin joints, black glass eyes and a hand embroidered snout. Come and join us for this fun 2-day workshop and indulge yourself with a little ME time, with like-minded people.
Your bear making kit includes: 100% mohair, Ultrasuede for paw & foot pads, glass eyes, step-by-step colour instruction booklet and all specialist bear making sundries. Please note that you will need to bring a small bag of polyester stuffing.
